Anna Brobbel – in de bronnen ook wel aangeduid als Nanny Brobbel – was de dochter van de autodidactische kunstschilder en graficus Bob Brobbel (1907–1971), die vooral bekend staat om zijn handgekleurde (foto)litho’s en stadsgezichten. Zij volgde een opleiding aan de Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam, waarmee ze als eerste in haar familie een formele kunstopleiding genoot. Na het overlijden van haar vader zette Anna Brobbel het familiebedrijf “Grafische Studio Brobbel” in Hilversum voort. Ze tekende en schilderde in de traditie van haar vader, met een voorkeur voor stadsgezichten en realistische onderwerpen. Haar werk signeerde zij consequent met “A. Brobbel”, wat in de handel en op veilingen soms leidt tot verwarring met andere kunstenaars met dezelfde initialen.

Anna Brobbel – also known as Nanny Brobbel in the sources – was the daughter of the self-taught painter and graphic artist Bob Brobbel (1907–1971), best known for his hand-colored (photo)lithographs and cityscapes. She trained at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, making her the first in her family to receive a formal art education. After her father’s death, Anna Brobbel continued the family business, “Grafische Studio Brobbel,” in Hilversum. She drew and painted in her father’s tradition, with a preference for cityscapes and realistic subjects. She consistently signed her work with “A. Brobbel,” which sometimes leads to confusion in the trade and at auctions with other artists sharing the same initials.
