Guillaume le Roy was graficus, houtgraveur, etser, pentekenaar en textiel kunstenaar
In 1957 ging hij in Amsterdam naar de School voor Kunstnijverheid, de latere Rietveld Academie en volgde daar de afdeling vrije grafiek. Zijn eerste houtsneden maakte hij op afgedankte cafétafeltjes. Na zijn afstuderen in 1962 trok hij naar familie in de buurt van Parijs en maakte daar ruim twee jaar deel uit van internationale kunstkringen.
De werken van le Roy zijn altijd abstract. Hij gebruikt kleine kleurtinten in zijn werk, waardoor hij vensters, poorten en ramen beter uit laat komen. De kleuren zwart, wit en grijs waren voor Guillaume le Roy het belangrijkst in zijn werk. In de periode 1960 -1979 gebruikte hij een tijdlang meer kleuren, om daarna weer terug te keren naar zijn oude tinten. Volgens verschillende kunstcritici is le Roy een echte graficus die verknocht is aan de techniek van het kervende mes en bijtende zuren.
Vanaf 1965 brak le Roy door zowel in binnen- als buitenland. In 2010 was het werk van Guillaume le Roy nog te zien in het Cobra Museum te Amstelveen, het Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam en het Museum van het Boek Den Haag.

In 1957 he went to the School for Applied Arts in Amsterdam, the later Rietveld Academy, and attended the free graphics department there. He made his first woodcuts on discarded café tables. After graduating in 1962 he moved to family near Paris and was part of international art circles there for more than two years.
Le Roy’s works are always abstract. He uses small shades of colour in his work, which makes windows, gates and windows stand out better. The colours black, white and grey were the most important in Guillaume le Roy’s work. In the period 1960-1979 he used more colours for a while, after which he returned to his old shades. According to various art critics, le Roy is a true graphic artist who is devoted to the technique of the carving knife and caustic acids. From 1965 onwards le Roy made his breakthrough both at home and abroad. In 2010 the work of Guillaume le Roy was still on display in the Cobra Museum in Amstelveen, the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and the Museum van het Boek Den Haag.
