Johannes Vennekamp is een autodidactisch schilder . In 1963 richtte hij, onder het patronaat van Günter Bruno Fuchs, samen met Uwe Bremer , Albert Schindehütte en Arno Waldschmidt de werkplaats Rixdorfer Drucke in Berlijn op . In die tijd woonde hij in Berlijn en Recklinghausen . In 1974 verhuisde Johannes Vennekamp de werkplaats Rixdorfer Drucke naar Gümse . In 1980 creëerde hij voor het eerst papier, waarmee hij sinds 1990 papiersculpturen maakt. In 1989 hielden de kunstenaars van Rixdorfer Drucke een tentoonstelling getiteld “Zum Ballspiel” (Naar het balspel) in de kunstvereniging Elmshorner Torhaus. In 2001 had Johannes Vennekamp een solotentoonstelling over het thema “auto’s” in de kunstvereniging Elmshorner Torhaus. Hij schilderde talloze portretten van muzikanten en maakte etsen op muziekpapier. Sinds 1994 maakt hij steeds vaker kleurenhoutsneden . Letters vormen een prominent ontwerpelement in zijn werk. Tegenwoordig woont Johannes Vennekamp in Berlijn, vlakbij Gümse aan de Elbe.

Johannes Vennekamp is a self-taught painter. In 1963, under the patronage of Günter Bruno Fuchs, he founded the workshop Rixdorfer Drucke in Berlin together with Uwe Bremer, Albert Schindehütte and Arno Waldschmidt. At that time he lived in Berlin and Recklinghausen. In 1974 Johannes Vennekamp moved the workshop Rixdorfer Drucke to Gümse. In 1980 he created paper for the first time, with which he has been making paper sculptures since 1990. In 1989 the artists of Rixdorfer Drucke held an exhibition entitled “Zum Ballspiel” (To the ball game) in the art association Elmshorner Torhaus. In 2001 Johannes Vennekamp had a solo exhibition on the theme of “cars” in the art association Elmshorner Torhaus. He painted numerous portraits of musicians and made etchings on music paper. Since 1994 he has increasingly produced colour woodcuts. Letters are a prominent design element in his work. Johannes Vennekamp currently lives in Berlin, near Gümse on the Elbe.
