Sjoerd Hofstra is een Nederlandse beeldhouwer die vooral bekend staat om zijn ruimtelijke constructies in beschilderd plaatstaal. Zijn werk balanceert tussen abstracte vormgeving en speelse, vaak pop-up-achtige structuren, waarbij hij zichtbare verbindingen en vouwlijnen als esthetisch element inzet. Hofstra exposeerde in Nederland en nam deel aan tentoonstellingen en veilingen waar zijn sculpturen en objecten worden aangeboden.

Hij ontwikkelde een eigen taal van platte, gekleurde elementen die in de ruimte worden samengevoegd tot dynamische composities, soms met een licht grafisch of architectonisch karakter. Zijn bijdrage aan de Nederlandse beeldhouwkunst ligt in de combinatie van industriële materialen met een handzame, bijna ontwerpende benadering van vorm en kleur.
