Short biography Willy L’Eplattenier

Born in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Willy R. L’Eplattenier, grandson of the great Swiss painter Charles L’Eplattenier, is heir to the richest pictorial tradition of the L’eplatteniers originally from La Chaux de Fonds in Switzerland and grew up between legacies of his most famous predecessors, Le Corbusier and his own grandfather Charles L’Eplattenier, whom the great architect named as “my only master in painting”.

“The painter learned like a game in his childhood that this trilogy of color, form and matter can have sublime, eternal and unrepeatable encounters. And so, in his proposal, he invites us to contemplate a sample of the most perfectionist Cubism, of the most purist, of the most erudite, of which he allies himself with mathematics to decompose and recompose measures in an immaculate work of marquetry.

And the contemplative eye of man feels dwarfed by the mastery of the work, aware of the ephemeral existence of his own composure of forms, colors and materials. He finds no consolation thinking that his soul was granted to him, because in Willy’s paintings a tender and deep heart beats, prepared for pain and for the party, capable of moving and exalting us, of transferring to us the notes of his musicians, the joy of the light that visits the window, the passion that hides the woman that he imagines sacred in every part, the lonely bottles that find in his canvases the dimension of beauty in an unusual magnitude. A wonderful collection before which we can only exclaim: Ars longa, vita brevis. Laudamus te.”

Willy ’s painting “Menina Margarita, who paints, is part of the main collection of the National Museum of Arts “Bohdán and Varvara Khanenko”(Kyiv, Ukraine). Being the first modern work of a living painter in this museum, dedicated to classical western art. Also his works are in the collection of the Museum of Art Bodega “Vivanco”(Spain), Museum of Art Orihuela and in private collections of Spain, America, England, Switzerland, Ukraine, Italy and many other countries.

Willy R. L’Eplattenier, geboren in La Chaux-de-Fonds, kleinzoon van de grote Zwitserse schilder Charles L’Eplattenier, is erfgenaam van de rijkste picturale traditie van de L’eplatteniers, oorspronkelijk afkomstig uit La Chaux de Fonds in Zwitserland en opgegroeid tussen de erfenissen van zijn beroemdste voorgangers, Le Corbusier, en zijn eigen grootvader Charles L’Eplattenier, die de grote architect noemde als “mijn enige meester in de schilderkunst”.
“De schilder leerde in zijn jeugd als een spel dat deze trilogie van kleur, vorm en materie sublieme, eeuwige en onherhaalbare ontmoetingen kan hebben. En dus nodigt hij ons in zijn voorstel uit om na te denken over een staaltje van het meest perfectionistische kubisme, van de meest puristische, van de meest erudiete, waarvan hij zich verbindt met de wiskunde om maten te ontleden en opnieuw samen te stellen in een onberispelijk inlegwerk.
En het contemplatieve oog van de mens voelt zich overschaduwd door de beheersing van het werk, zich bewust van het kortstondige bestaan van zijn eigen kalmte van vormen, kleuren en materialen. Hij vindt geen troost bij de gedachte dat zijn ziel aan hem is geschonken, omdat in Willy’s schilderijen een teder en diep hart klopt, voorbereid op pijn en op het feest, in staat ons te ontroeren en te verheffen, om de noten van zijn muzikanten, de vreugde van het licht dat het raam bezoekt, de passie die de vrouw verbergt die hij zich in elk deel als heilig voorstelt, de eenzame flessen die in zijn doeken de dimensie van schoonheid in een ongewone omvang vinden. Een prachtige collectie waarvoor we alleen maar kunnen uitroepen: Ars longa, vita brevis. Laudamus te.”
Willy’s schilderij “Menina Margarita, die schildert, maakt deel uit van de hoofdcollectie van het Nationaal Kunstmuseum “Bohdán en Varvara Khanenko” (Kiev, Oekraïne). Het is het eerste moderne werk van een levende schilder in dit museum, gewijd aan klassieke westerse kunst. Ook zijn werken bevinden zich in de collectie van het Museum of Art Bodega “Vivanco” (Spanje), Museum of Art Orihuela en in privécollecties van Spanje, Amerika, Engeland, Zwitserland, Oekraïne, Italië en vele andere landen.
