Ernesto Arellano is een Argentijnse kunstenaar, werkzaam als beeldhouwer, illustrator en beeldend kunstenaar. Zijn oeuvre vertrekt vanuit een speelse, verhalende beeldtaal waarin fantasiefiguren, decoratieve overdaad en een uitgesproken gevoel voor kleur en vorm samenkomen.

Arellano volgde een artistieke opleiding in uiteenlopende private en publieke contexten en presenteerde zijn eerste solotentoonstelling in 1996 in het Centro Cultural Recoleta in Buenos Aires. In 2000 ontving hij een werkbeurs van het Fondo Nacional de las Artes en werkte daarnaast als curator.

Sindsdien ontwikkelde hij een beeldtaal die steeds sterker op keramiek is gericht, met verwijzingen naar onder meer hindoeïstische architectuur, rococo en kunstenaars als Bosch en Brueghel. Zijn werk beweegt zich tussen kleinschalige sculpturale ensembles, stukken op menselijke schaal en publieke monumenten en zoekt daarbij steeds de grens op tussen ornament, narratief en verbeelding.

Arellano behoorde in de jaren negentig tot het jonge, aanstormende talent van Galerie Sara Garcia Uriburu in Buenos Aires.
In een figuratieve werkwijze verbeeldt de kunstenaar zijn persoonlijke reacties op het gebroken gezinsleven waarin hij is opgegroeid.

Ernesto Arellano is an Argentine artist working as a sculptor, illustrator, and visual artist. His oeuvre stems from a playful, narrative visual language in which fantasy figures, decorative excess, and a pronounced sense of color and form come together.

Arellano received an artistic education in diverse private and public contexts and presented his first solo exhibition in 1996 at the Centro Cultural Recoleta in Buenos Aires. In 2000, he received a work grant from the Fondo Nacional de las Artes and also worked as a curator.

Since then, he has developed a visual language increasingly focused on ceramics, with references to Hindu architecture, Rococo, and artists such as Bosch and Brueghel. His work moves between small-scale sculptural ensembles, pieces on a human scale, and public monuments, constantly pushing the boundaries between ornament, narrative, and imagination.

In the 1990s, Arellano was part of the young, up-and-coming talent at Galerie Sara Garcia Uriburu in Buenos Aires. Using a figurative approach, the artist depicts his personal reactions to the broken family life in which he grew up.
