Erik Couzy is een Nederlandse, internationaal werkzame kunstenaar en ontwerper wiens praktijk zich kenmerkt door een synthese van beeldende kunst en toegepast ontwerp. Hij is vooral bekend van zijn sculpturen in edelstaal en andere materialen, vaak met maritieme of abstracte vormentaal, zoals het werk Schip (mast met zeil in rvs op marmeren sokkel).
Couzy genoot een artistieke opleiding in Europa en werkte daar ruim vijftien jaar als succesvol kunstenaar, waarbij zijn werk in verschillende musea en collecties terechtkwam. In 2005 realiseerde hij met de CycloWall Oil Lamp zijn eerste internationaal succesvolle designproduct, waarna hij zich meer ging toeleggen op design en consultancy voor grote bedrijven. Sindsdien is hij gevestigd in China, waar hij met zijn bureau zsmartdesign producten en concepten ontwikkelt voor zowel lokale als internationale opdrachtgevers.
Zijn oeuvre wordt getypeerd door aandacht voor detail, materiaalinnovatie en een streven naar verrassende, hoge kwaliteit. Veilinghuizen noteren zijn naam als Postwar & Contemporary-artist, met werken die vooral in de categorie sculptuur en volume worden verhandeld.

Erik Couzy is a Dutch, internationally active artist and designer whose practice is characterized by a synthesis of fine art and applied design. He is best known for his sculptures in stainless steel and other materials, often featuring maritime or abstract forms, such as the work *Ship* (mast with sail in stainless steel on a marble pedestal).
Couzy received an artistic education in Europe and worked there for over fifteen years as a successful artist, during which time his work ended up in various museums and collections. In 2005, he realized his first internationally successful design product, the CycloWall Oil Lamp, after which he began to focus more on design and consultancy for large companies. Since then, he has been based in China, where, through his agency zsmartdesign, he develops products and concepts for both local and international clients.
His oeuvre is characterized by attention to detail, material innovation, and a pursuit of surprising, high-quality. Auction houses list his name as a Postwar & Contemporary artist, with works primarily traded in the sculpture and volume categories.
