Short biography
Dierk Osterloh, who was born in Oldenburg/Lower Saxony in 1964, initially studied law. At the age of 27,
he took a new direction in his life and found his way to art.
In Freiburg im Breisgau, he created his first oil paintings and the passion for artistic work ignited a fire in
him that continues to this day.
With esprit he changed his residence in 1994 and moved to Cologne, to his first own studio.
In 1996 he moved his studio to the well-known „Kunstzentrum Wachsfabrik“ in the south of Cologne.
Here he found excellent conditions for his artistic development, so that he lived and worked there until
2020.
During this creative phase, sculptures and objects were created in addition to the large-format oil pain-
tings. Photographic works have always accompanied these disciplines.
Three groups of works divide the painting of Dierk Osterloh. Non-objective painting or concrete art, figu-
rative works and landscapes.
In terms of content as well as form, the artist has always followed his own path with passion.
The nimbus of a master student of a famous artist does not fit into his world view.
The brush used in the beginning has at times given way to the palette knife. Today both tools are used in
parallel. The painting style is focused on the implementation of the central elements of force and dyna-
mics. These two thematic complexes represent the times in which we live. Pastos the oil paint is applied
and then provided with Schmissen. New worlds are created that fascinate the viewer when he engages
in this way of seeing.
Parallel to his artistic work, he completed an apprenticeship as a media designer in Cologne and studied
at the Hamburg Technical School of Art. In Cologne, Dierk Osterloh has gained a national reputation by
designing a city coat of arms especially for the city council:
This design has been realized both in the meeting room of the City Council and on the facade of the
Historic City Hall.
Since 2020 Dierk Osterloh lives and works in the Westerwald near Bonn in the „Villa ARTE“.
In addition to a showroom, there is a sculpture garden in the outdoor area.
National and international exhibitions accompany his work.

Kurz-Biografie
Dierk Osterloh, der 1964 in Oldenburg/ Niedersachsen geboren wurde, studierte zunächst Jura. Mit 27
Jahren hat er eine neue Richtung in seinem Leben eingeschlagen und den Weg zur Kunst gefunden.
In Freiburg im Breisgau entstanden die ersten Ölbilder und die Leidenschaft für künstlerisches Arbeiten
entfachte ein Feuer in ihm, das bis heute anhält.
Mit Esprit hat er seinen Wohnsitz 1994 gewechselt und ist nach Köln gezogen, in sein erstes eigenes
Atelier.
Im Jahre 1996 hat er sein Atelier in das bekannte „Kunstzentrum Wachsfabrik“ im Kölner Süden verlegt.
Hier hat er hervorragende Voraussetzungen für seine künstlerische Entwicklung gefunden, so dass er
dort bis 2020 gelebt und gearbeitet hat.
In dieser Schaffensphase sind neben den großformatigen Ölbilden auch Skulpturen und Objekte ent-
standen. Fotografische Arbeiten haben diese Disziplinen stets begleitet.
Drei Werkgruppen gliedern die Malerei von Dierk Osterloh. Gegenstandslose Malerei oder konkrete
Kunst, figürliche Arbeiten sowie Landschaften.
Inhaltlich wie auch formal ist der Künstler stets mit Leidenschaft seinen eigenen Weg gegangen.
Der Nimbus eines Meisterschülers von einem berühmten Künstler passt nicht in sein Weltbild.
Der anfangs noch genutzte Pinsel ist zeitzweise dem Spachtel gewichen. Heute werden beide Werkzeuge
parallel eingesetzt. Der Malstil ist auf die Umsetzung der zentralen Elemente Kraft und Dynamik ausge-
richtet. Diese beiden Themenkomplexe stehen für unsere Zeit, in der wir leben. Pastos wird die Ölfarbe
aufgetragen und dann mit Schmissen versehen. Es entstehen neue Welten, die den Betrachter faszinie-
ren, wenn er sich auf diese Art des Sehens einlässt.
Parallel zu seiner künstlerischen Arbeit hat er eine Ausbildung zum Mediengestalter in Köln absolviert
sowie an der Hamburger Technischen Kunstschule studiert. In Köln hat sich Dierk Osterloh durch den
Entwurf eines Stadtwappens speziell für den Stadtrat ein überregionales Renommée erworben:
Dieser Entwurf ist sowohl im Sitzungssaal des Stadtrates sowie an der Fassade des Historischen Rathau-
ses realisiert worden.
Seit 2020 lebt und arbeitet Dierk Osterloh im Westerwald bei Bonn in der „Villa ARTE“.
Neben einem Showroom gibt es im Außengelände einen Skulpturengarten.
Nationale und internationale Ausstellungen begleiten sein Werk.
